My first SLR

Finally I convinced myself to realize my dream of buying myself an SLR. Hefty investment for a mere hobby always seemed kind of immoral. My guilty conscience overshadowed my will power. It told me not to spend so much on myself when I had other responsibilities towards my family and towards the society. There are people who seldom get 2 square meals a day and I spend close to 70k, for pleasure. Too profound… I know.

But then I convinced myself that charity begins at home so I should make myself happy first.
So I gifted myself a Nikon D90, upgraded from Kodak DX
6490. This point and shoot definitely gave me the feel of an SLR, it helped me get my parameters of aperture, exposure, white balance, ISO, depth of field etc. right. I learnt to balance these parameters to get a good picture. Kodak DX 6490 is a very non forgiving camera if you are on manual, so I would recommend it for a learner’s kit. I had this camera for around 6 years and I still have it. The upgrade had to be the best and of course pocket friendly. Here are some resources that helped me pick my first SLR

Here's one of my first shots with my SLR, damn shaky, but the lighting wasn’t good and well, I have to admit I need to steady my hand. But its just a matter of time, wait for my next post and you’ll appreciate the difference.
